Series of Webinars with Federico Finchelstein

On December 04, 2020, the students of NERI and Professor Felippe Ramos, head of NERI, held an exclusive, special and last event of this semester. The guest of honor Federico Finchelstein is professor of history at the New School for Social Research in New York, where he directs the Janey Program for Latin American Studies. And he is also recognized worldwide for his books on fascism and populism. He graduated from the University of Buenos Aires and a doctorate of History from Cornell University in New York.
During his lecture, Professor Federico Finchelstein presented a very interesting exposé about the difference between populism and fascism based on historical context and analyzing personality traits and action profile of Presidents Bolsonaro and Trump, as well as what they represent for the world today.
Furthermore, Professor Finchelstein answered questions from the public regarding topics such as the relationship between militia perspective with the populist in Brazil, how the strength of populism in Brazil and the beginning of a new more center-left leadership in the US could interact with each other in the next few years.
